338 Laupua Magnum

The .338 Lapua Magnum is a rimless, bottlenecked, centerfire rifle cartridge that was developed in the 1980s as a high power, long-range cartridge for military snipers. It was used in the War in Afghanistan and the Iraq War. This round has become widely popular and available as a result of this. In addition to its military role, it has seen more use by hunters and civilian long-range shooting enthusiasts. For a typical high-end military rifle, the maximum shooting distance for a man sized target is considered to be 1,640 yards.
