The 6.5-284 Norma was originally a wildcat cartridge based on .243 Winchester brass necked down to 6.5mm. Originally this cartridge did not see much commercial use until in 1999 when Norma submitted it to the CIP. The cartridge has since been standardized and is used extensively in benchrest competitions and is known as an extremely accurate long range round.
